| Tow bar. Multi height or quick release? |
|
I'm after a tow-bar for pulling a large caravan. I've seen the multi height and the quick release. Will the standard quick release be high enough off the ground or would a multi height be better. Both are similar prices on ebay I think. If anyone knows anywhere else that's cheap, I'm all ears..... and nose i suppose Cheers The force is strong with this one ......

I have towed with both an notice no difference. If you want a cycle carrier that you can use whilst towing the multi height is a better bet (although Witter were supposed to be doing a cross between the 2). Biggest downsides with the multi height is that it doesn't look good and is like a plough off road DS3 TDV6 HSE

I think the multi-height looks impressive at the back of the disco and offers serious protection in the event of being rear ended Tis an awful plough off road though

My 110 got stuck in Iceland a few years ago because of the multi-height plough on the back. The Tirfor experience that followed means I would go for the removable swan neck every time. I also could not have parked on a grass bank at the Luxembourg airshow today with a plough fitted, and I would have had to gone another kilometer to find free parking. Came back to find a 110 G4 had parked next to us, both at roof-level above the surrounding cars .
I visited Max at Maxxraxx last week to have a bike carrier fitted. I'm very pleased with it. Max is also a very nice chap; great customer service, and highly recommended.

You should have no trouble with the removeable type. That is the one that comes standard on alll Disco 3's in Australia and here it has a towing rating of 3,500kg and 350kg towball load.
I have been towing a 22' van that weighs 2,500kg for the past 6 months and have had no trouble at all. keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
