Fitting Land Rover BT Kit (Part 2)

Confused Hi, I think I am slowly getting there on fitting the module, however I have a couple of small concerns, How easy is it to dismantle the steering wheel to fit the buttons? and if I already have the PTT switch with microphone can this be conected to the bluetooth unit, any ideas where the original microphone terminates and can it be extended? Thank you

this might help http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic3843.ht...el+removal

The bluetooth mic sits up in the little vent in the light consul at the front ..it has a little connector there .The bluetooth kit comes with an extension wire which plugs in there and comes down to behind the radio

Pull the light fitting down from the front ( nearest the screen ) first and it will just come off ..you can then have a look .

The ptt switch ..if you mean the same ..only have one connection under the switch ..dont know where the other end goes to though.

If you make it a bit more clearer as to what you already have and what your trying to fit i may be able to help you more Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up Wiggs thanks for the reply, I have taken off the light cover and there is already a microphone in there, I wondered if I could use the existing microphone rather than installing another one. the existing microphone is the same as the one supplied with the BT kit. the existing microphone is used to communicate with the sat nav etc. Many thanks again for your assistance. Dave

Smile Hi Welcome to the site,
I am getting there with fitting the unit and i wouldn't have got this far without the assistance from this site. I would make sure if you buy the upgrade kit you buy all the right modules some for sale have out of date modules and modules missing. I think you should allow a good half a day if you are fitting yourself< I am not sure how much the stealer's will charge. I hope this helps all the best Dave

The LR bluetooth kit is quite expensive , but works great and has good voice dialling .

Be wearey buying off ebay, they normally dont have the main bluetooth part which is round about £150 for the unit.

You can use any bluetooth kit with an adapter lead to get sound through the stereo ( about £20 )

Just shout if you need any more info or part numbers Thumbs Up

Thanks, I will

First to buy myself a shiny HSE. I go on holiday in 2 weeks so would prefer to get one before then - much prefer the idea of 4 weeks in france with new toy as opposed to my freelander. Very Happy
