What options should I go for?

If I buy a Disco 3 HSE what options are considered necessary for our bush?

- Replace the 18" for 17's? Salesguy's face dropped Laughing Tyres I swore by were the Scorpion AT's.
- Tow bar (dunno what the "add on" tow bar is from the Bots tips thread?), I noticed the std one lowers the car ALOT.

Definitely go for 17 " rims . You can get a tow bar fitted by various after market fitment places . Roofrack , skid plate , long range tank , spare wheel carrier , snorkel can done afterwards . Not sure where you are but in JHB I would recommend BRS for all of the above

I'm looking second hand...still I was told if I did anything like tow bar and tank that it would void my warranty unless done by LR?

They are prepared to take the new 18's Smile and put 17's on. Cool. What profile? 255/65/17?

What is the "add on" towbar and what if I get a Disco with that goose neck thing can I change it to a better Bots proof towbar? We're planning a nice trip around April with 3 or 4 vehicles. Would hate for my new LR to get handicapped? I also prefer trailer to RTT.

I get around Benoni / Roodepoort / Alberton : Rolling Eyes Never heard of BRS?

I have 245/65/17 Coopers STT for offroad use and the same size in BF Goodrich Rugged Trail for daily use

I've never had any issues with warranty on my accessories ?

The standard disco towbar is way too low for an offroad trailer

Using http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html for the comparitive...assuming the 18" is accurate the profile you using would clock up more mileage also I see it has a 105 rating (BFG)? Acc to GPS speed how far out is the Disco?

As far as the accessories go, like the LR tank and towbar. Have you tried or needed to claim from warranty with those being fitted by someone else?

Also doesn't the Disco 3 come std with a detachable tow bar, the reason I'm asking is then you must've replaced the existing one?

Have a pic of yours, if you don't mind?

Check this link for picture of towbar
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic22899.html?highlight=

As far as warranty issues - my dealership (Midrand) said no problem , but I guess you won't know for sure until you try claim Confused

My speed indication seems to be the same with both 18 and 17 " , because the 17 " tyre has a bigger sidewall .

Dam DiscoEast, I looked at your gallery...I thought you had a Disco 3? Thumbs Up

Thanks for the pic Heine, nice shot. I see it's mentioned APB? Is that a uk name, and the local BRS? Coming from a Nissan this is all new to me.

PS the loading rating on those BFG's, I think is 105? Isn't that a prob?

The pic of the tow bar is the same as the one BRS does - but not from the same supplier I guess.

Can't help you much with the load rating , as you are pretty limited in which tyres are available . I think you will also find that you won't get any offroad tyre that is rated for more than 140 km/h .

I've got the 265/65 R17 Bridgestone Dueler-D 694 A/T's,
load rated @ 110 and speed rated @ 180 km/hr.
Not sure for the M/T's, there is only 5mm difference in diameter
between STD D3 Goodyear & Bridestone A/T's I've fitted.
I use my van for day to day work as well off road and I'm
very happy with them.

df, are you going for the V8 or TDV6 – as the 17’ rims won’t fit on the V8…
