Was on the phone to APB trading sorting out my Takla Air Jack and they asked me if I would be interested in one of these.....
They said someone from the forum had already bought one. Anyone willing to own up and let me know what they are like. I understand that they don't have an EU approval, only a South African approval so can't be sold as a tow bar in the UK.
I like the idea of it, as it won't act as a plough like the LR one and it has the pin/jaw that I can use to tow some of the farm trailors on the shoot, instead of using the tractor.
I think they said £190+vat If you are annoying me, just remember it takes 42 muscles for me to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger, and I'm lazy so don't be offended.

yep, that was me.
There are not EU approved for towing (yet). I bought one to fix my winch tray to.
they dont come with the TowBall though. You would have to buy this seperate. It is one solid piece of kit. I dont now about all the techy strees and breakage stuff but it seems a hell of a lot stronger than the std LR towbars !! Duncan

Thanks DiscoDunc, so it comes as just a flat plate to mount whatever you want to, so in my case I'd have to buy the pin/ball/jaw adaptor
Is it easy to get on and off, or is it semi-permenant
And is the ground clearance a lot better than the LR removable hook
John C - that looks like an impressive bit of tow bar, but looks to reduce the ground clearance a bit, and that's something I don't want to do.
Thanks chaps If you are annoying me, just remember it takes 42 muscles for me to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger, and I'm lazy so don't be offended.

Yes, that is correct

really easy. 1 bolt through the recovery eye and two bolt up underneath where it slots in.

Yes, i havnt measured it but it must be several inches. you can then fit the adjustable plate so it is almost as high as the bottom of the tailgate
if i have time the weekend i'll fit it and take a photo. ChrisTyler may have a photo in his gallery as he has the same bracket Duncan

What is required for EU approval? Mitchel Bros do one that takes a standard tongue and weighs less. Enineer tested and certified to 3.5 tonne.

The recover point is fine but the tow bars are too low to attach a winch tray.
Having said that.... when ChrisTyler said he would get one made for me just like his I didnt realise that it would be made out of 5mm armour plating. I can only just lift it without the Winch fitted. Chris doesnt seem to realise that we havnt all got muscles like Popeye Duncan
