Mrs C has 'lost' her phone - lost, as in lost, not pinched. Got plenty of spare phones, but need a replacment sim. Anyone got any experience of replacement sims from Orange? We didn't take out the daft insurance, but wonder if we're about to have to fork out loads in order that Orange can still receive money from us for making calls!?! TDV6 SE Auto, Cairns Blue

£15 is the going rate, unless of course you tell Orange that the sim has broken/gone faulty - then they should replace it for free

Is she due an upgrade? That could be a way of replacing the phone. I lost a phone in a field and it turned up a year later, it still worked too! DS3 TDV6 HSE

SWMBO lost her 'py monthly' phone. The SIM card was replaced free of charge. Kept the same number too. Sharks: Natures way of telling surfers to get a job

Slightly on topic, if anyone wants a free '3' 3G SIM, please pm me an address and I'll post it.
Was planning to switch providers but the SIM won't work in my 'phone.
Might be able to find the £10 top up voucher too. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

*$**%*$*£@^!%!&*^!!!!!!! Grrrrrrr.
Turns out it was stolen. At least £50 worth of calls.
Phone contains home address, holiday dates, calendar data etc etc etc.... when we're out etc.
There are 3 number on there that were called a few times, and I called those (number withheld) this morning and they are just rough kids on the other end. It was probably lost somewhere in Hull, and we're a good 20 miles away.
Question is, what would you do? Plod won't do anything I doubt.
i. Forget it, move on, learn from it.
ii. Speak to the kids on the numbers dialled and tell them that you know they were called from a stolen phone.
iii. Do something else (I can't think of anything) - risk winding them up, and increase the likelihood of them coming round...
iv. Load the guns, let the dog have the run of the house and sit and wait
Bl**** annoying.

Seriously though, Ii assume you have told the phone provider as they will use the EMEI number to make the handset useless in the UK.
I am amazed that the boys in blue won't help. If the little have been using it, then it should not be ovely difficult to track them down. Sharks: Natures way of telling surfers to get a job

Thanks - have given out the IMEI to the plod - does that make the whole phone useless - or just this SIM? ie: can it still be used to get the data stored on the phone memory off? TDV6 SE Auto, Cairns Blue

The EMEI number will make the handset useless in the UK. Trouble is they still work abroad so there is a market for them.
The SIM card will be disabled by the service provider.
I don't know what can be done about the data on it. Hopefully the little will be too stupid to find the data Sharks: Natures way of telling surfers to get a job

I thought the International Mobile Equipment Identity number was enforceable where ever there is a GSM network making them useless anywhere. generally they are not burnt as most go unreported AFAIK
