AFAIK, it remembers the seating positions for each key, ie you use one key and SWMBO uses the other key, when either one of you then drive the motor the seat will be automatically adjusted to the last position that was stored to that key. Also if you have an electric steering column and it is set to Auto, when the key is removed the seat lowers and goes back to alow for easier exit, it then returns to the memory position when the key is inserted, easier entry. A word of caution though, sometimes it can be a bit of a to any passenger seated behind the driver when the key is removed I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

VA has it on his RRS, it's when the butler goes out to the car, starts it, warms it, selects your pre determined seating/mirros position, then he goes back into the house and carries you to the car ensuring all appendages are in the correct place before spraying relaxing scent of xing and xang and gently closing the door ready for you to drive to the country house........ Yes good idea until the day you accidentally use SWMBO's key
Also IIRC the "programming" of the key takes place every time you turn the car off, though not sure if it remembers the Memory that was in use at the time, or if it actually recalls seat position regardless of memory... I have mine turned off.

The key that another person holds, that person being the one that allows you to believe that the car is yours, especially when it needs cleaning or needs fuel I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

It's only of use if you are not the only driver of the car, unless you have shorter legs on some days than others.
Incidentally, how long does it take for a fob's battery to run down when unused, if say you generally only use one fob? Badda bing.......How you doin'?

It will take a long long time. The battery is charged automatically when the key is inserted. I guess that eventually the battery will simply die and won't be able to hold its charge any longer, but I haven't heard of it happening to anybody yet.
EDIT: I've just read your post properly
I've no idea how long it will last without charging, but again, I've also never heard of anyone having a flat battery in one of their keys, so I guess they must last a long time 2006 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

If the battery in your spare key dies from disuse (not sure how long this would take btw), just open the car manually and use it for a while and presto, you should have a charged key.
