| PMR Channels used by Disco3 ? |
|
Hope you can help me with this one guys.
I'm getting a new Entel PMR that needs to be pre-programmed with the appropriate channels and sub tones and can't be user programmed without software.
Do we have a range of channels that can be accessed by everyone including all the Kenwood / Icom sets and if so can you post them for me
This would be much appreciated

You don't need to do anything with the Entel PMR's (Nice choice btw) Hope you got it from JMC, you won't find a better price around
Any changes you need to make are all done in situ. It's the lesser ( ) models you have to phaff aroudn with it! It's got a load of black bits on OK!!!

Hi Ian,
I would ensure that it can be programmed from the keypad before you buy. Not really a lot of use if you tend to use it at events otherwise. Outside events may not use the D3 'approved' channels. Saying that any pro unit, Entel, Icom, Kenwood, Motorola, Yaesu etc should all be programmable except for their most basic units.. Also make sure it's got a full length 1/4 wave aerial if possible (about 160mm), not a compressed thingy. Makes a fair difference to range!
Cheers, Richard. A Silver G4... Best of both worlds...

I've got the (now discontinued it would appear) Entel PMR446 submersible ones.
there's a new version that alledges compatability with the Kenwoods etc (Did they change channel setup or just make it easier to compare?)

Just to clarify, the original HT446 (as many of you have) has now been discontinued. It will continue to be supported as the new replacement radio still has the same battery / charger etc.
The 'new' HT446 has substantially more in-built durability It is a stronger radio and is now submersible to IP68 (5m for 1hr) rather than the previous IP67 (1m/30mins).
However, at this point in time, the new radio is not as PMR446 user-friendly as it ought to be with zero user access to sub-tones etc. Essentially, it is a business radio which is programmed to work on a limited spectrum of 446 configurations. For this reason, I won't be pushing the new radio to anyone outside of the business community.
The good news is that there will be a release II of the new radio in about a month or so, which will be the one most of the 'end-suers' will want...... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
