Weils disease is contractable from rat urine, high risk contract group is Canoeist's, fishermen, reedcutters, people who leisure and work around rivers etc.
Does this Numpty own a canoe or is he a fisherman.
HSAWA states you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. If you had reduced risks down to as "low as reasonably practicable" with Risk ssesment etc, you are clear.
Andy A lifetime is more than sufficiently long for people to get what there is of it wrong.

Andy
What he said....plenty of anglers get this as some fisheries are infested with rats. A cut finger is all you need to get this potentially life threatening illness.
Symptoms start like flu and get worse from there. Keeping it Claret and Blue

to comply with recent rules working on another persons site "the duty of care" is with the contractor in ensuring the customer (or any other member of the public) is kept safe...either by signs, barriers, requests....then commands.
The risk assesment we use where I work now takes a different form, its called a "dynamic" risk assessment & is completed by the workman every time he goes to a new task - this includes a statement will the task affect members of the public if it does the task doesnt start until the workman has ensured he has adequately made the area & the situation safe.
If you PM me I will send you a copy of the risk assessmnt that we have devised... ....have Disco3 HSE TD6 Auto...
....also S Type 2.7 Auto....
