Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and was just looking through some of the old topics and spotted one about reversing camera's, could I ask your advise please about fitting a reversing camera to my 08 Discovery XS.
I have no idea where to start or what components I would need to get. is this something I would need expert help to have fitted ? I guess so.
Where does the actual rear camera fit and does the camera automatically come on when you select reverse gear ??.
I am off to Billing tomorrow for a look around, as I only live 5 minutes away, I was planning to keep my eye open for this equipment.
Any help and advice that anyone could give me would be much appreciated.
Regards

I have one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/9-LED-NIGHT-VISION-C....m14.l1318
fitted into the rear tailgate handle. Fitted very easily, just enough room.
Ran the cable up the tailgate and through the car to the front of the motor. I don't have a fixed screen, so i use a portable DVD player that the kids have for long journeys, which has an AV input. I purely use mine for finding how close i am to the caravan when hitching up, as it doesn't matter how much the wife goes "left/right" i always end up a little too far away from the hitch to pull the tintent.
You could always try 10forcash (member on here) who may be able to help for some beer tokens.

Hi Craig,
I will definately investigate your option as well as contacting 10forcash, I appreciate your help as I had no idea of where to start.
I will need to find out if that little camera will work with the factory screen fitted in the car?
If I get sorted out I will PM you and let you know what solution I came up with.
best regards

Do a site search - i think Wiggs has a reversing camera and lots of bits added on to get the rear view camera working in his motor.

I have an Alpine reversing camera linked to my Alpine navigation display, yes it comes on automatically when you select reverse gear. Its fitted internally in the top middle of the rear window so has a view through the wiped section of the rear window The touchscreen display is permanently fitted in the S cubby in the dash where the factory nav is fitted...
Pics of the install in this thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic15958.html Cheers
