Will access mode stop your cat escaping?

....That is to say

There have been number of thefts of Catalytic converters from cars (4x4's) in my area.

I don't usually use the access mode (I generally use the philosophy the more you use anything, the more likely it is to break Rolling Eyes )

Do you think in access mode it might keep my cat safer? - I don't think I could get in myself!
Don't worry..... it only seems Kinky the first time you do it!

The next time you're out and about in Lincolnshire, have a look at the shady people walking around. If they are all chubby bloaters then access mode will help you.

If they're all skinny looking criminals then it won't help you....just stick it in Off-road height to help avoid people hitting you with their car doors and hope for the best. Wink

Question I assume MY05 TDV6 just has mufflers and no cat. converter, Rolling Eyes
With a lot of reference to cat. converters now is this a new thing for TDV6, I know the petrol ones have them.

Just checking Whistle

Pretty sure they all have them and have done since release, UK spec do at least
They're fairly inaccessible too so we should be the last choice for the 'cat burglars' Rolling Eyes

Not so common...

Hi Rob,
I think that you'll find that big hunk in the exhaust is a catalytic converter, even on TDV6s.

BW. Thanks for that, I had assumed that large one on the exaust was a muffler, it seems rather tinney for a cat converter but so be it.
Twisted Evil If so some gains could be made when cat converter gets rusty by replacing it with a muffler Rolling Eyes
Or would this be a bad idea Question Whistle

You may well think that, but I couldn't possibly comment! Whistle Whistle

(with apologies to the British political comedy, of which name escapes me at the moment. Was it "King of Cards"?)

BW, Silly me Would I sugest such a thing Rolling Eyes
Early cat comverters had quite a lot of back preasure, and slowly as they aged this increased , assume from soot etc, but modern ones may be much better Whistle
