I use the 4x4 info crumbs all the time in the desert! Makes a world of difference. Much better to go back exactly the way you came than to just aim for a GPS waypoint in a straight line. That way you only have to risk tumbling off the edge of an unseen ridge once per dune.

I really wish there was an option to have a split-screen display showing offroad nav on the left and 4x4 info on the right. The compass is not as useful to me if I'm already on nav.
