NanoTitanate Shocked Electric Rear Axle Drive (Erad) Shocked Crankshaft Integrated Starter Generator (CISC) Shocked

A Haldex unit integrated with the Erad allows the diesel engine to be de-coupled from the rear axle for front-wheel drive only. Leaving the Haldex closed during periods of electric-only driving means torque can be transmitted from the Erad motor to all four wheels.

They have a center differential (Haldex) that can be either open or closed. Diesel motor drives front, electric motor the back. If the diesel is switched off, you can still drive all 4 wheels with the electric motor by closing the center differential.

Still an iffy design IMHO. Li-ion batteries only last 2 years on my laptop (if they dont explode first). No fuel saved on motorway.

I would prefer a fuel (methane, petrol, diesel) converter that uses standard fuels to generate hydrogen, then use that with fuel cells and have one non brush electric motor for each wheel. Saves weight from the drive train and differentials as you simply dont need them anymore.
