Until last week I would have said virtually no off road and zero faults but last Tuesday my D3 blew an injector pump and apparently there are no spares in Oz so one is coming from overseas. 2007 TDV6 SE Towing 22' Boroma Primo Grandinata, Mitchell Bros. I guess I am 70% off road at this point, given a couple of big trips. Only problem rear mud flaps, destroyed both this weekend at Stockton. I also think that the posts we get on these sites are from real 4x4 drivers so any faults are goiing to be highlighted. I have never put any of previous 4x4 through what the Disco has been through and all my mates who have owned other brand are very impressed by the Disco Take the road less traveled. No faults occured whilst or as a result of offroading, although I did have a wheel bearing fail in Spain on the way to Morocco...
A fair few issues with my current and previous D3 but none of them as a result of or attributable to off road use, nor did they leave me unable to drive the vehicle

WayneD. Understand your problem re rear wheel mud flaps. They do not like the Simpson either. Fitted new ones last week. If and when I do similar trips again I will remove the good flaps and put on some 'home made' flexible rubber types.

I've done about 60% off-road, most of which has been a fairly good workout for any vehicle. (Broome - Cape Leveque RD, Tanami Rd, all the gravel roads around Alice Springs, all the non-roads around Alice Springs etc) and the only things that have failed on my D3 could not be directly attributed to off-road driving.
The steering rack was replaced but did not fix the problem it was replaced for, thus I can only assume it wasn't faulty in the first place. The Front diff was replaced due to a leaking pinion seal, but these fail on cars that never go off the road, they are a known problem. The airconditioning compressor failed, but that would have happened on or off road.
None of these things would have caused me to get stuck out in the bush. I've busted more brands and types of 4WD than I can remember, and I agree with an earlier comment that off-road work is definitely more likely to cause the demise of a vehicle than on-road, but so far I couldn't be happier with my D3.
I haven't had any issues with the air suspension or terrrain response despite towing a two-tonne camper trailer for much of my travels.

No lond term offroading , only those organised here.A couple of times per week though in connection with my work for short periods. No issues other than a blown clutch & flywheel which was just down to bad luck and before I started offroading it.Steerin rack replaced a few months after I got it ( which was a call back by my dealer).Steering/Road handling a bit iffy at the mo but the jurys out on that one for the time being. Don't take life me too seriously ..... it's I'm not permanent

It seems most broblems with the D3 are ones it was borne with, ie known issues, and dont seem to have disabled it
Some of us seem to have reoccuring issues with steering and suspension which mostly affects early build cars, some like me have steering/suspension parts being replaced several times, This is of great concerne to me as warrenty is about to end and if it continues I will be insisting on warrenty covering it, Hope this if so wont be too much of a battle
Thanks for the rsponces , it puts my mind at ease....... a bit..... I think yes
Cheers
