I have just purchased a 54 plate HSE - I have the Speech Recognition switch on the left hand side of the steering column.
The question is .... does this just operate Notepad or are there other things it can control. I was under the impression it may control the GPS or the head unit ??
grateful for advice.

On the HSE (and any D3 with premium nav) it'll control the satnav & audio too, take a look in the handbook for the commands or pull it and say 'navigation help' for an intro

It does loads. Try the following. A very small example of what you can ask.
Preceded by "Navigation"
Fast Food
Zoom out max
Hotel
Petrol Station
Crisps
Ferry
Loose Woman
or
CD Play track 1
Volume increase level 5
Radio 95.5 FM
or
Select Low Range
Cruse Control 50mph lock
Gear change select to sport
You may have to say things a few times for it to get used to you For use of a 4x4 site and driver training pm me

My manual doesn't say anything about Cruise control via voice because that would be I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

For a more complete list of commands that she can say "Sorry!" to, see here. Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Thanks - sussed it all now although she doesn't recognise the loose woman command. Either it is the way I am saying it or perhaps she has already become attached to me and is demonstarting traits of jealousy - Tut, women.
