Duncan, whilst I have no experience of doing this job on a D3, I have done a similar job on my old D2, and the transmission cooler pipes are self-sealing couplings and you should not need to top up the ATF.

One thing I do remember is that you must make double sure that you put the self sealing couplings back together properly, because the D2 was prone to these couplings coming apart, and dumping the atf on the road with disastrous consequences.

They may have changed the design on the D3, but I would think self sealing would be used os some form or another?

Make sure you bleed the air out of the system after you replace the radiator.

Well, All done Thud

Started at 14:00, stopped for about an hour and have just finished 22:00.

The radiator is a right Censored to get out even after all the pipes etc have been removed.

The Intercooler and bottom 25% of the radiator were solid with clay. It took 2 hours with a low power pressure washer to clean them out.

havnt been for a test drive yet but looking forward to tomorrow.

Must go, desperate for food and beer Thumbs Up
