Exactly what I was thinking... and I bet there is no congestion charge for Olympic types during the games in 2012
Biggest waste of time and waste of resources considering we are supposed to be frugal to save the planet - hypocrites.

Makes me wonder how the hell are they going to lift the restictions on firearms, as our own atheletes can't even train/practice in their own country
They are building a shooting ground @ £20,000,000.00 for the event, and then bulldozing it when it is over, how the FU K does that work I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

What kind of firearm restrictions do you have now? I thought gun related crimes were very low in England even with loose restrictions, at least that's what they taught at Cambridge in the 90's. I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

They're actually going to cordon off entire lanes just for atheletes/entourage
Don't they realise what the traffic's like round here normally? Perhaps the CC is to drive us all off the roads before 2012 arrives The whole ting will be a farce, knowing 'our' great organisational skills - think Millenium Dome, Wembley and Terminal 5 all rolled into one.
Still, the security will be top-notch Tunisia 1 2 3 Power by TorqTune

Compared to America or South Africa - yes, but that's hardly surprising considering the almost unresricted nature of gun ownership in thos countries.
Also Sideview, if you do not want to incurr the wrath of Scotsmen, Welshmen and Irishmen, it's the United Kingdom or Great Britain, not just England. Knowledge & Reason - the arch enemy of faith

That's not paying for it - that's playing the lottery. It comes out of our (Londoners) Council Tax
And then half the facilities get taken down and shipped round the country, and the other half get knocked down Tunisia 1 2 3 Power by TorqTune

Hi Stu,
Wasn't talking about the Olympics specifically, just a general comment regarding the perceived synonimity between England and the UK. Probably considered as trivial by most but it does wrankle in the colonies. Knowledge & Reason - the arch enemy of faith
