Reckoned to be the worlds busiest heliport.
I recently saw two Army Chinooks swinging left/right in formation about 100 300ft above my office. Now that was a bit more interesting......
Last time I was offshore I took one of the new S92s to Dunlin Alpha. That was 'quite' pleasant The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

These were the workhorses. I believe Schneider in the Netherlands is still flying some. I Thought they will/would be replaced very soon.
I am also working in the oilfield but nowadays in Southern Germany drilling for geothermal water. Same drilling holes in the ground but sitting on a terras with a beer in the hand in the evening makes it more like a life than a prison. Roel

We (Inter Log) did some work on Ocean Nomad for Talisman earlier this year, and have also been on Galaxy 1 (BP) and Sedco 704 for AGR recently. Mostly in America now though - drilling lots of well there now the prices are up

Roel,
Don't rub it in, I'm offshore Wednesday so will have a few beers before I go. Had 24 years onshore and although it does have it's advantages you don't get three weeks free out of every five and I don't get people calling me all the time " can you just do this". So I'll stick with the offshore life for now.

I spent 10yrs on there With a couple of years on the Arbroath. Back in the good ole days of Amoco, then with the BP tossa's. I jumped ship onshore before it was sold by Bp after they sucked the place dry. Needing car cleaning or detailing products.

They certainly did. I have spent the last 2 years trying to put right all the cr*p they left behind. Still nowhere near complete be another 2 years before we come near to that. Talisman are having the last laugh though they found two or three new fields near by one pretty big so there will be plenty of expansion going on over the next 4 or 5 years. They have given the Montrose and Arbroath another 24 years life expectancy so there plenty of oil left.

Been up in both IJ and WB and was sad to see them leave the S.Coast. The new Sikorskys have nothing on the old birds, no space and stacks of down draught. Horrible to work with!

Why did were they allowed to be chosen if they are not as good as the old one's. Use to know one of the pilots for IJ a long time ago, but he was under contract to Bristows and got moved to Scotland to work on the rig transports.
When we were racing in the Solent once, one of the crew fell down the stairs into the cabin and got a bad back injury and one of the helicopters took him off to hospital. Considering all the rigging, it is pretty impressive to be able to land somebody on a yacht in strong weather.

Good news. That'll see a lot of the original auld timers into retirement. I am currently in the process of speaking with a few companies about a return offshore. Which is a big decision after being onshore for 8 years. The wife would be glad to get rid of me for half the year though Needing car cleaning or detailing products.

Update on the choppers. Both are in Aberdeen for refitting and livery change ready for the next job, which I am told by Bristows is likely to be abroad. Bristows have at least one more coast guard chopper on site which was being used in Scotland. It appears that they lost this contract to Scotia.

Well that a daft. As a member of the Beer coastguard team its a real shame we should have been training with the new bird but there is an issue with down-draft on the new Augusta Westland 139 callsign Coastguard Rescue 106.
Strange when you consider it is a much smaller aircraft.
I hope IJ and WB find a good home.
Just to let you landie lot know our CG vehicle is still a Defender !! one of the last in the country as the replacment vehicles Brava pickup would not fit in our garage!! what a shame.
Busy month so far 16 callouts You can never have too many toys...
