Recognise this?
India Juliet (pictured) and Whiskey Bravo from Seaside Rescue have been decommissioned and are parked up at Bristow helicopters in Aberdeen! Seems they have lost the contract with the Air Sea rescue! WB has already been re-registered but IJ hasn't.
If you go round to the long stay car park at Aberdeen Airport look to the right and they are right up next to the fence at Bristow! Very dirty 1996 Defender 90 - Soon to be mine!
Stornaway Grey D3 HSE - Dads!
Hesko the German Shepherd - Coming Saturday, hopefully!

Spent many a hour pacing under IJ in my RNLI days! Use to practice with it twice a month in the Solent. They used to pick us up out the boat at 10-15 knots with the winch... Great days but chucked out at 45 as being to old Think it's 50 now.
The one it's been replaced with is much faster but holds less people, no standing height, no auto hover and several other things the CG aren't to impressed with.. Bring back IJ !! A Silver G4... Best of both worlds...

Apparently, the company that got the new contract is losing a lot of money! Very dirty 1996 Defender 90 - Soon to be mine!

I saw the beast when I came back onshore a few weeks ago but didn't realise where it was from. Who took the contract from Bristows Scotia? Bristows nicked a big offshore contract from them last year I wonder if this is them getting a bit of their own back. Mind you if they bid as low as you suggested could have back fired.

Bond got the contract! It's just a shame to see WB and IJ parked up not being used! Very dirty 1996 Defender 90 - Soon to be mine!

Certainly is but Bristows wouldn't have flown them all the way up to Dyce if they didn't have something in mind for them. I must admit I haven't seen anything that size used in the oil industry before. It would be interesting to find out what they will be used for. I'll ask at Bristows next week when I go back. I won't be able to post e reply until I get back 2 weeks on Tuesday but if I find out I'll let you know.

I have!
I grew-up within spitting distance of Aberdeen Airport and awoke every morning to the sound of the paraffin budgies
They used to use Chinooks out of Dyce in the '80s. That's quite a big un....... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

That must have been some sight wztching the Chinooks coming and going. Simple case of economics stopped their use, I wouldn't want the helicopter bill at the end of a month.
