I was looking at a 535d Touring the other day - but they appear so bland compared to a D3

Latest News!!
I called Landrover Customer Services today and told a nice young lady Mel Harvey about my tale of woe!! She confirmed that if the AirCon needed refilling that it should have been done under warranty, the fluid does not reduce in volume except by leaks - in which case the leak should have been found. She also stated that if the aircon is not used then they recommend a recharge every two years or 30,000 mile.
When I told her that I had been told that the pressure was not up to where it should be and that I was made to feel under pressure to have it done she arranged a refund from the dealer.
She has looked at this topic and recognised another poor soul in Bishops Stortford who had been to Lookers and fallen foul, she said I could put her details on the site for anybody else who has had this problem.

Thank You Landrover (especially Mel) You have to teach a computer to make a mistake.
But humans make mistakes naturally!!

We had a 2004 BMW 530D estate the new shape one and without a word of a lie it was the worst car we ever owned.
In 18 months it was in the garage 10 times. I never needed to clean it because the garage always did it. We only did 8k in it and swapped it for the LR D3.
One day the sunroof would not shut when it started snowing after showing friends how big it was. Looked a right tw*t having to pull a platic sheet over the car to stop the snow coming in for the night. Then the f***** alarm kept going off cause the car kept locking itself, thinking I'd left it open. I had to leave the friggin door open all blasted night to stop that. I nearly left the keys in it hoping someone would nick it! That was assuming I could get the key out the ignition which kept getting stuck!
The windows would not shut, the auto box was crap, the cd player broke so BMW stripped the car down but could not find a new one in Europe so that took 2 weeks to fix. It was off the road for going on 9 weeks in the time we owned it. It never broke down but boy oh boy did it make you look a tosser driving down the road with the brakes screaming because they kept sticking on. I had 2 new sets of brake pads in 6k miles.
I could have set it on fire when the only time we really needed the sat nav it broke. I was so frustrated that I let the car have it and left it in the Little Chef car park whilst we had a cup of tea and purchased a ******* map!
Next thing Police and ambulance roll up as I hit the SOS button and when BMW tried to call and got no response they called the Police. Then the sensor told them my car was upside down with the airbag deployed so the Fire and ambulance came aswell! Cue looking a right Tw*t again explaining how I was punching the sh*t out the car in frustration of having to spend £8 on a crap map that they give away with petrol on any other day when I didn't need one.
Got going again and when we get there sat nav tells me I've arrived. By this point now I knew that car had some little tosser hiding in it taking the p*ss out of me.
On the way home the problem with the anti trap function on the rear windows comes back and we do 70mph for 200 miles on the motorway with the windows open.
3 more days in the dealers and fixed once again. Then the door rubbers dry out and it squeaks like a family of 100 mice are living next to my head. BMW rub some juice into the seals and they work fantastic for 3 days and then the family of mice move in with all their distant relatives!
The windows stop working again but only ever when there open which at least drowns out the noise of the mice..
Then the pucture warning tells me I got a puncture which I don't. But boy that thing is persistant and keeps on telling me and telling me and telling me.
Now I'm a calm man, with 4 kids I don't normally get all that wound up, but I swear I'd have burnt the car to the groung if it wasn't for the fact it cost me £40k and the insurance would have told me to pi** off.
So I swapped it for a D3!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from the odd problem, touch wood its been fine.
And if anyone says thats a great funny story I'll ram it up there a**. 2006 TDV6 S Auto, Buckingham Blue, for the wife.
2006 Audi S4 Avant Quattro, Phantom black 4.2 V8 for me and the dogs.

The Lease company that supplied my car - employ a bloke to "reject BMW's" as they have so many that require work, rejection etc.
Mine was the first Land Rover ! "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Fine then... no BMWs. How about this one? It's technically a 2+2 so as long as you have vertically challenged offspring I don't think SWMBO can argue its practicality

Not a pretty story
But I ran my last BMW for nearly 4 years and well over 60k and everything 100% throughout. At least they can make quiet windscreen wipers - the silent originals were still on when I sold it and they always cleared the screen!
LR on the other hand charge me 35 quid for the privilege of replacing the "fingernails on blackboard" wipers on my D3 but the stealer refuses to do under warranty because at 13 months old its done too many miles - over 10k. (11.5k in actual fact )
I was happy with the BMW and would buy another but I love the D3 it comes with
