salisbury could be a bit limiting given its mid week and the range will almost certainly be closed, we could try a bit further north Duncan

Could possibly make it depends how far north you are aiming for!!! Derbyshire Peak District or Yorkshire Dales or even Lake District or not that far? Better to be late in this world than early in the next

or we could try that "dry" river bed again in orcheston. it may not be so dry this time. although we now know the water has never got about 1000mm deep  Duncan
