| Snow Chains and Wheel Spacers |
|
I noted some discussion on the Snow Chains Croisiere thread about the use of wheel spacers with snow chains. I have a set of Konig Rallye 265s that I want to fit to the Wrangler M+S 255/60R18s but have a clearance problem on the MY08. The use of wheel spacers is not legal in Oz unless they are factory fitted but since I rarely expect to have to use chains, probablly only when directed by the police or national park authorities the use of wheel spacers would seem a cheaper option than getting a new set of wheels. I would appreciate any info on the size and type of wheel spacer that people are using. Thanks

I used Hofmann Wheel spacer for croisere - TYPE SPV 005 R3, suitable for FFRR 2003- , RRS and D3
30mm at rear and 25mm on front.
you could get away without spacers on the rear but the clearence without spacers on the front was no more than 1mm between chains and suspension, very tight, and i was running STTs 245/75 R17. I'm guessing the 255's would rub, but AXL022 ran MTRs without spacers

saw these the other day. http://www.maggigroup.com/Files/04_News_04_02.htm
fit from the outside, CHF500.- though for a pair, about £250, bit pricey but save on the spacers . Dont know if they do a 255x60 R18 size.
or try these for the coming ice age http://www.maggigroup.com/Files/06_MCXP_Data.htm There are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those that do not
