On my old disco 1 and 2 in top gear the torque converter locked and even if you put you foot down the revs never altered ( indicating a lock). On my auto D3 in top gear there is an increase in revs of 500 - 750 when you put your foot down. Is this right or the torque converter slipping slightly. Any help would be appreciated

In the D3 when you put your foot down in top gear you will also notice a corresponding increase in speed! This is something you probably didn't experience in the D1/D2!

Mine is currenty at the dealer for a new box.
oilchange and software reset did not work.
My torque convertor seems to slip all the time, in all the gears and it should lockup in every gear.
In top gear when gently opening the throtle revs go up before speed increases.
At certain speeds I also get some shudder in the driveline because of the slipping convertor, as if the lockup is only partial.
Gearchanges should be crisp and direct in all gears.
Its normal that it shifts back at kickdown.
