Hi Kenso,
I heard about this being an issue from ARB when I got mine.
At the time they could only do products they sell and did not include a Calcium battery.
I ended up getting the dealer (B....F...est Adelaide) to instal one. A DELCO Calcium and Pirana switch. No overcharging.
I hear that the Calcium battery is almost essential as they get a big charge initially and tend to boil normal deep cycles.
After saying that It does not stop me killing it by flattening it too many times ;o)
Regards,
Gaz

To run any other battery than a lead calcium you will a box of tricks like Drivesafe's traxide one. Getting there is half the fun

I think that the battery controller may play a big part in this.
I have the Traxide SC80-LR controller fitted, with a normal lead-acid auxilliary battery.
No rpoblems.

Hi,
I have the Piranaha electronic (for high amperage support) and an Optima, nearly 3 years old and zero issues. It supports the voltage required and properly isolates rather than integrates the battery.

No problems with mine, I run a ARB controler with a Optoma Yellow Top. Nearly 3 years now works like a charm.
Had a problem when ARB wired it up, they had it all wrong, had to re wire it, and the job was poorly done too.
Dont know how they could not follow the wiring diagram, will not let them touch anything again.... idiots.
My motto is " Do it your self, Do it right, and you know its right"

When I purchaced my first 2 yellow tops their voltage was low and so put them on a smart charger, both gassed thier heads off. So both replaced before they were even put into the car, had to wait untill new ones turned up. Both of these have perfomed great so far, have 2 x yellow top using ARB (sure power) 200 amp controller as aux batteries. Maybe worth trying your yellow top on a charger to see if it is the battery it 's self that is the problem. The batteries that failed were dated 200th day 07 so if yours is arround this date it could be the same faulty battery problem because the batteries should have no problems with the Disco charge rate. Do not take life too seriously no one gets out alive anyway!
MY 8.5 Izmir Blue HSE Disco 3, ARB Bullbar, IPF HID spot lights, GME TX3440 all in mic UHF, Tripple batteries (2 x Yellow top aux under bonnet), Prodigy brake control, tinted widows, ARB compressor (under bonnet), Prem sound, Prem Nav, Electronic steering column, Adaptive lights, Center fridge, Active diff, Hybrid TV, Side moulds.
