| Connects2 CT90-LR03 Multimedia Interface HELP |
|
I have just bought a connects2 CT90-LR03 multimedia interface for my 05 HSE. followed the instructions connected the fiber cables in and out to the back of the ff screen power on the system all works as before but there is no button or screen display for TV as stated in there manual where should this appear on the screen?
Range C2 and they were useless cant offer any tech support as they buy in the interface. well off.
I have put the manual support on the site

Well it states "for discovery 3 without factory fitted tv tuner"
It is the right part no I agree the "sales photos" look nothing like the part you get.
There is also another unit supplied with the kit for "TV in motion" but i have not installed this part yet as i want to get the interface to work first then add the bells and whistles later. You can never have too many toys...

The C2 Box has a coax that plugs into the green port on the back of the screen, you then plug the optical cable out from the screen into the c2 box and the plug the optical lead from the loom into the C2 box, Then add 12v the the C2 box.
Without the power to the C2 box the screen just stays on the "Land Rover Logo" splash screen so i presume i have connected it up correctly as all the orginal functions work ok. You can never have too many toys...

Well firstly, connects2 (or the vendor you bought it from) are responsible for supporting you, as it has to work as advertised under the trades description act - might be worth reminding connects2 of that and suggesting they get back to you after they speak to their suppler!
Secondly, its pretty vital that the optical cables are the right way round. Now not telling you how to suck eggs here, but before you go any further make 100% sure that you have triple checked those cables where you removed the single feed and spliced in the new unit.
I am guessing that the loop must be working, as you found with the unit powered off (no repeat of optical loop) your screen does not come up, with the unit on it does start up so the loop is complete, but if send/receive are incorrect on the c2 unit then perhaps its not logging in to the MOST bus correctly. I am no expert BTW, but this is the theory, I have been waiting for someone else to find a black box solution that works before I take the plunge! I would suspect that from your post the system is powered up, but its not telling the screen on the optical BUS that its a TV tuner, which is what it does I assume (pretend to be a factory option so the screen shows the button).
One final thing, did you ensure the ignition is off as per the instructions? I am just wondering if the car has to go to sleep before you break the MOST bus and insert the module. Instructions are a bit poor aren't they...
You can always use the diag code to check that the video in is coming up on that input - which would prove the box is working at some level, but that does not help with the main functionality which is that the button is supposed to appear on the screen.
Wiggs had a fight with a black box a while back, if you doa search for his posts it may also help... sorry I have no answers only gusses

Well thanks for the responces:-
I have looked in the diag screen and it says no tv tuner!
Would you think this unit should go on the optic leads.
Should this unit be before the screen or after the screen?
I am getting very confused.com You can never have too many toys...

OK i have a bit more info now:-
When i go into the hidden menu and diagnostics, test video inputs
Under TV/DVD is says TV Fitted.
So where on the menu system should the TV button appear? or is there another setting to enable it? You can never have too many toys...

My (totally theoretical understanding) is that the only way to enable the TV button is to have a black box that does it, as you bought. Did you try the TV input in the diag menu, and does it display a picture from whatever you have plugged into your black box?
EDIT, like this section in the menu, piccy taken from wiggs gallery (found with gallery search):
I would say, connects2 need to explain why the product they sold you is not working...

| Any update on this connects2 device? |
|
Anthony,
Did you get this working in the end?
I am keen to buy one of these devices as I want to have my Freview DVB Tuner display on the screen.
I did order this very device from an online supplier, about 1 year ago, but they were never able to supply it..
It seems that connects2 had problems, and the device you now have, despite being the same model number is differnet, and it does not have a remote control for use, or the multiple inputs.
My disco is also a 2005 HSE, so wondered why they state it is for 2006 MY onwards.
Would love to know where you have got to.
Thanks,

Wiggs,
Thanks for that, I had already looked at your post.
So the one you got from ebay supplied from Taiwan, is it OK and works as advertised then?
I have also been looking at the Nav TV solutions such as OPV-2LR and OPV-1LR, cant really work out the difference between them though.
I know they are more expensive, but they do have MOST integration as well as optical audio, which I would really like.
Any thoughts which is best?
Thanks,

I have not got the one from ebay ..mine is from another supplier , but there all pretty much simular.
The one on ebay offeres 2 AV inputs , a RGB input and a reversing camera input ...but no audio ( you have to connect that yourself)
Nav Tv one OPV-1LR offers 1 av input and audio in ....you also get a touch screen icon on your screen to access it ....£ 500 odd pounds ...very expensive .
Not sure what the difference between the OPV-1LR and the OPV-2LR are though ? Help get this page up the rankings please
