The absolute 'guru' in this area is a guy called Collyn Rivers. He's written a number of books on the subject - the one I've got is called 'Caravan and motor home electrics', or words to that effect. It's quite cheap - do a google search and you can order it over the internet. It's mandatory reading for anyone playing around in this area.

Well this is what I did on my D3
As an old former auto electrician who hates running wires through cars..
The D3 has a permanent 12volt outlet at the back and an ignition controlled outlet as well.
I use the ignition controlled feed to trigger a relay that turns the cosntant feed on .. and it feeds into my camper battery. The relay etc is in the trailer.
Whenever you stop, turn off the key and the battery in the D3 and the trailer are not connected.
I have an AGM battery in the trailer and you can safely use up to 90% of their capacity versues 50% of a flooded type.
Runs my Waeco for 2 - 3 days no problems.
I have a VDO marine volt meter (made in 1976 with a brass case) but new in the box (Iused to work with them) mounted in the side of the tralier body with 2 power outlets next to it.
Works fine for me!
Cheers
