Just been told by MacRae & Dick that I need a new steering rack but that (as well posted here) they are on back order. Anyone in the know as to very roughly how long these things take to go from back order to the dealer. Wouldn't normally worry about it but off to Sunny Tunisia in 5 weeks time so was hoping to get it changed before then.
Must say as only 2nd dealings with M&D Inverness and very pleased, car in & sorted (apart from above) quickly & efficiently, not even any hassle over cleaning & readjusting the EPB on warranty after a screamer. Good Job!  Honda Dog U better DUCK!!!!!

Just in case you are badly stuck, would be terrible to put Tunisia trip in jeapordy.

Just had mine replaced. Took 30 days for dealer to receive the part. Well worth the wait, clunk/knock completely gone! USA

about 3 weeks for mine - cant they get an RRS rack (dampened version)
Al TDV6 S - Tonga with Ebony
(and 19" RRS alloys, and 20" RRS alloys, and 19" RRS alloys, and........back on 20's - finally, honest, satnav & DVD)
Remember - You can only walk so far into the wilderness before you are walking out again

My thoughts too, get an RRS dampened rack, pay the extra (or force their hand if you can), then sit back and fit 20" knowing you'll not have to worry about the "Stormers Dance"...  Cheers

Funny Al /SI I had Stormers on my mind again too! I had all balljoints steering rack bushes and wishbones done and car is riding lovely tempted to have another go!  Googsy

Hopefully they will have it before the trip but if not should (hopefully) be OK for the trip. If don't hear from them soon will raise possibility of RRS rack. No chance of getting 20" rims, have 5 years supply of 17" wheels & tyres in the shed!!!  Honda Dog U better DUCK!!!!!

The thing looks oval.
Even if it's not, chances are the Aluminium will be brittle.
Wouldn' want that on my D3 doing 70mph on the M1!!! slowly re-building my gallery after the wipe out !!!!
