House Painting

Hello there

I need to paint the outside walls of my house this year, Crying or Very sad ( I can't put it off any longer, SWMBO will not allow it) but with the vagaries of this fabulous British summer, and due to the fact that my available free time is limited, I feel that it would be wise to get the job done rather quicker then usual.

With this in mind I have been looking at High Volume Low Pressure paint systems to give me a helping hand, and having been the greatful recipient of advice from the D3 experts in the past I wondered if anyone could offer me some friendly guidance as to whether I need to stop looking for the quick fix and get the roller and brush out or if the HVLP road is one worth using Question

Kind regards CS

I used to paint for living (back in the dark ages) Spray paint guns are great but you need practice. If you DIY you may not get agood finish until you have got the hang of it.
You will need to mask off that is what can take the time. Using a piece of borard as you go needs pracice as oversray can undo all your good work.
With spray painting you need to prep very well to make sure it sticks.
Getting there is half the fun

I've switched from rollers and paint brushes to paint pads. Cleaner and more efficient and easier for for cutting in. They're cheap to buy so use them and chuck them. As Caver says: the prep work for spraying can be more labour intensive than just getting on with the painting. Good luck up the ladder and hope for a good Indian (Cornish) Summer. Whistle

Used the spray system once, loads of prep and worked quite weel but one good gust of wind and it can all go wrong.
If you are helpful and then stop, you get more agro than if you never helped in the first place.
