Hey all,
Selling a Defender on ebay which is up for £15,000ish.
have a potential buyer asking to pay with paypal, would it be ok and would the cash transfer over the weekend or what do i need to check that i have received it. I use it all the time for £100 type sales. If you are helpful and then stop, you get more agro than if you never helped in the first place.

There's no reason why it shouldn't be safe, perhaps even safer than other methods, howvever paypal may carry out extra security checks for large transactions and you might want to check what fees might apply to you receiving money ISTR its up to about 3.4% .
Checkout there security centre fro more details

Surely it depends on how much in fee's you will have to pay
people normaly just ask for a £200 deposit on auction end , then the balance on pick up
why would he want to pay it all with paypal ??????
i'am sure it is as safe as any other method , bar hard cash in your hand TDV6 5 SEAT BASE NO GIMMICKS NO FUSS

Just talked to Paypal (indian call centre!)
I would be charged £500 on a £15,000 payment. Buyer pays nothing. If you are helpful and then stop, you get more agro than if you never helped in the first place.

Just checked....the buyer has a rating of........yes you guessed it........0
I didn't include paypal as a buying option, its the buyer that wanted it. I want cold hard cash If you are helpful and then stop, you get more agro than if you never helped in the first place.

ISTR there's a standard listing fee /selling fee for cars so as to allow "expensive" cars to be traded without penalty. Paypal fees are obviously outside such. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
