| German Land Rover 60 year anniversary event...anyone going ? |
|
The German LROC is having it's 60th anniversary event over the weekend of 2-5 October at Mammut-Park. Link is: http://www.dlrc.org/default.asp?l=31&dl=241&b=3
Is anyone going or interested in going ? The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I can't go, JF. I was at Mammut last weekend with Ian62, and I recommend that you go. It's a great site and well worth the drive.
LR Luxembourg is holding an event at Bridel Quarry next weekend. Are you interested?

Both me and SWMBO are already enrolled for the two days (I'll have two kids in tow as well). Will you be there as well? The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Yup, we'll come. Not sure about two full days; kids are too young, and we nearly had shaken baby (and SWMBO) syndrome as we drove around Mammut last weekend. We're also low on rubber on the current tyres and I'm trying to take it easy so that they last through Tunisia and until December, when we'll be able to visit UK and AJS Tyres.
Did I understand it right, that LR Experience will provide the cars, or is it bring your own?

At the start of our 5-hour drive home, Ciaran started, "I miss my new friend ... I miss my new friend ... are we there yet? ... I really miss my new friend ..." Next time we'll be happy to leave him sleep over with you for a few weeks.
We went home with a Land Rover full of kids' washing. There was also more mud inside the car than outside, and it took me a couple of hours to clean it. Darkness fell before I could wash the outside but ... not to worry ... SWMBO helpfully put it through a roller wash a couple of days later
I must remember that it's her car. I mustn't get hung up on the fact that it was my .. no .. our money.

Nothing wrong there that a roller wash wouldn't fix. Bet you were Mr Popular with SWMBO when you got him home.

Ian - unfortunately I won't be...
I forgot cardinal rule number one - verify dates with SWMBO ahead of time. We have a family gathering with my in-laws this weekend (4 generations). Plus my eldest is now off to Florence on Sunday with the school on a hastily arranged trip.
(And NJF's time spent regaling tales of people losing bumpers and bits and pieces in front of SWMBO this weekend raised an additional question mark... ) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Ian, I am more than a little envious.
Now, some advice: (1) don't go into the Swamp; (2) if you do go into the swamp, keep your doors shut.

And some further advice - if someone does go into the swamp, don't tell other memeber's SWMBO all about it... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Have fun Ian.
I don't think this will be the last opportunity we'll have to get some continental Disco3-ers together. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
