So you were just guessing about manuals being harder to sell then? Confused

No from what I have seen they are harder to sell at a proportionally (compared to auto) equal price.

They may be harder to sell, but that means you can demand more discount on the manual... Wink

I really hate Auto's, but I will concede this is the first car I have driven where I think the Auto would be ok.

Manual is much better than auto on MPG though, and if its not smooth you ain't driving it right...

Very true TALL, the manuals are cheaper on some forecourts.............I tried both after being convinced by the salesman, the manual was £1100 cheaper. I wanted a manual but bought the Auto all because I have the best of both worlds. Personally I think I got the D3 I was after, and agree with all that its a personal choice against what the D3 will be doing, working, towing, offroading etc etc.

They are all great though Thumbs Up

Have a manual at the moment and will go for the auto box next time I think. The emissions are higher on an auto so road tax is a bit more as well.

England 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 Pursuit LE Auto Java Black

Auto 8 days a week! There is hardly any difference in MPG, mine averages around 29 on short journeys and 32 on motorways and thats cruising just under the 80mph mark. Off-road the Auto is spot on! It would be interesting to do a poll on members who have a manual now but would change to an auto second time round, but at the end of the day its down to personal choice I suppose.

Auto every time Thumbs Up As for MPG you can if you want move it into command shift as I do sometimes after filling up to see how high I can get the MPG figure Rolling Eyes Thud Sad I know but you can easily get over 30 MPG.

England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Cairns Blue

Town and country use only i.e. on and off the throttle:
Manual returns - 28.6 mpg.
Auto returned - 22.8mpg.

Obviously they were different D3's and the difference between mpg figures will depend on driving style, engine condition etc.

I love the manual but the wife prefers the auto, I agree the auto makes the car more 'fluid' on road however to quote an LRE instructor "if you're serious about off-road the manual gives you more control and consequently will be better than the auto"

Personally if the choice was between leather seats or Auto I'd go for the leather, if it's just a decision between auto or manual I'd have the auto.....
Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"
