Jacking up

Further to the post about which Jack to use, I need to ask a question as a total novice regarding working on D3's (give me a Defender to work on anyday!)

When jacking up a D3 I was told by a guy at Kwik Fit that when jacking up, you need to put it in Off Road mode and put the hazards on.

Is this the case?

Paul,

I don't think so. There is many a better expert on here than me but my understanding is to lower the vehicle into access mode and LOCK IT. This stops the suspension going ape when you jack up the vehicle.

I think that is the case regardless of how you jack (using standard, trolley or air jack). I left the car in standard setup and used my air jack for the first time. It kind of goes mental so lock it in access mode!

Cheers

Its all in the manual under - changing a wheel. There's even a cock to put under the corner with the most weight on it.

Spoke to a guy in local tyre centre and he said that a memo he had seen somewhere suggested that one should put car into off road height then put on the hazards, therefore when you begin jacking it up it will put the car into extended off road height automatically.
