| Wanted: Barn/Workshop Space near Shoreham-by-Sea |
|
Hi all, this is a long shot, but DISCO3ers seem to know everything
I'm trying to find a barn (or workshop space/lock up) for storing and working on cars. In total I'd like room for 4 or 5 cars, not that I have that many but I'm looking to share the space with friends
Area of interest is Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex, but I will consider anywhere within a reasonable distance.
In the likely event of DISCO3 not finding exactly what I want - any ideas about where to start looking to find somewhere suitable?
Many thanks

I have previously found a lock up via local council and also asking a local farmer friend. In all honesty - pay for a lock-up. a Barn sounds great but will cost you a fortune in the long run. You will also be cold all winter and do no work on the car !!
Good luck "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Martin it depends how much your willing to pay.
We've seen a marked decrease in Rents for older commercial properties (the lockup say 1000-2000 Sq ft) locally. There not pretty but there is usually plenty empty, but be prepared to pay upwards of £5 per sq ft unless you get lucky with an empty barn/unit.
Most will also want long leases and a deposit
Not much to help you as i'm not in your area, but the current situation means that property owners are willing to do some deals. (And also don't forget Rates and elecy it soon adds up!) Richard......

If you intend to use it for business, then beware.
My brother-in-law has been operating a car repair business in a building he rented off a farmer - he's just been shafted for business rates going back 7 years. 07 Silver TDV6 XS Manual + Tubes, Tints, White indicator repeaters, Xtreme H7s, LR dog Guard and Valeao Windy-Wipers

I may be worng but even hobbiest use someone has to pay rates/council tax on it.
If its empty the landlord gets 50% I believe... Richard......
