So, up on 20" Stormers this time, with 275/45x20's. Only stuck on this afternoon, so will update as to the "shimmy" as soon as I can.

And here she is:

Sorry Ron - quick blast out to the garage to correct the tyre pressures, nothing up to 50mph, and ran out of local road at that point, then food came along, so will nip out on motorway in the morning.

Sooooooo

shimmy is still there, abeit a lot less than on the VSpoke 20" supercharged alloys. It comes in on some surfaces about 50Mph, and reduces once over 70Mph. Is anyone running 255/50x20 tyres (as per FFRR) as part of me is not convinced its down to tyre width (and an undamped steering rack may be only be able to handle the narrower width, which is why D3 runs 255's as standard). I can only find 255/50's weight rated at 109, as I thought it was this size LR were going to spec for the D3 20" alloys. I'd have thought 109 rated tyres would be OK (1030kg per tyre, over 4000Kg car weight) as this is whats spec'd for Australian D3's.

19"'s still in the garage, so, watch this space Thumbs Up

I was told on one of my factory visits that they didn't fit 20" to the FFRR diesel versions in the early days because of a shimmy - don't know how true that was.

HI al cope

I have now had 2 D3s and always had stormers on them. I bought them through a company in the LRE mag and have never suffered wheel wobble or vibration through the car. I know RONP has always had stormers and never suffered.

I know tyre choice is down to a lot of the problems and mine is run on General UHP , BUT could it be down to the manufacture of the alloy wheel it's self Question

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Al you nutter.I knew you couldnt resist! You should try getting them balanced a few times from different places. Im still waiting for mine to arrive as they cant seem to source a suitably weighted wheel. If you not happy might know someone willing to purchase Whistle Out of interest what the weight rating on the wheels you have not Tyre. Looks Cool Cool though. Thumbs Up

Cheers

Simon - this is the 3rd set of 20" wheels, previous 2 were 20" Supercharged VSpokes (both genuine LR and aftermarket copies), the last set of 20's had 295/45x20 Grabber UHP's - got shimmy, so not tyres

Googsy - yep, deffo mad. Wheel weight rating is 900Kg, offset 53mm which is standard for RRS. Still got the shimmy at the mo, so will try one more balance, then if not gone (which I sort of doubt it will, as I still think its the steering rack not being dampened) they might be going
