| christmas market and beer |
|
a bit out of the blue but has anyone been to a christmas market over the water?
i visited lille last year, wasnt much cop but the the car full of christmas booze and goodies was good!!
any recommendations? it takes me 4 hours to get to dover or eurotunnel and would only want to travel a max of 4 hours the other side so poss germany in reach,
possible forum excursion??? for those into beer, beer, and oh yes beer

chriskindersmarkt in Nuremburg is always good. Been there for the last few years (co-incides with a december review I do out there )
Plenty of traditional toys and decorations etc it! It's got a load of black bits on OK!!!

I would say get a ryanair flight into Lubeck Germany. Stay in the raddison Hotel. Flights typically £5. Say you work for Draeger Medical and you will get a lovely room in the Raddison for about 85 Euro's unless it's gone up loads in a year or so . . . .
Market is great, lovely traditional stuff. Ide ring under the city gates, ide carving exhibition, beer, mulled wine and it often snows too "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Best Christmas markets - most places in Germany or around that area.
Vienna is good. Munich has a great Christmas market. I've never been impressed with the French ones...For me, it's the Germans that make the best gluhwein. And that is what Christmas markets are all about...! The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
