Just a general question; Is anyone else having ongoing issues with their Land Rover Watch (LRW) tracker system?
Over the 18 months I've enjoyed the car (and I have big-time ) the LRW system has been the only consistently flaky piece of kit. I got the one with the 'credit card' transmitter (Automatic Driver Recognition or ADR Tag) that tells the car that it's you and not some TWOC scrote.
In the early days the 'movement detected - no ADR found' alarm would sound probably only once every 6 weeks. A stop and restart would make the alarm stop and all was well. Four months ago, it switched to nearly every trip, so I borrowed Tony Robinson and did a Time-Team in my wife's handbag for the spare ADR tag. That one lasted just a couple more days.
Took the car in to get this looked at under warranty. After a few days of confusion (it seems that the LRW system is not a familiar one at my dealership) I was finally provided with a new, improved 'Super-Tag', along with a warning that the batteries wouldn't last three years, but only one as they broadcast their presence more often and 'louder'. After four months of trying, I still haven't seen any sight nor sound of the other replacement tag I'm owed.
I can confirm from the interference the tags cause on my LCD TV, that the new one did indeed broadcast faster/louder, however here we are four months down the line, and I'm back to two or three days at a time of consistent failure to identify the tag, in spite of the fact that my telly shows the tag working perfectly.
The week before last after a return to the dealer, they reported that LRW are sending out new updated tags (super-super-tags?) immediately. No sign of them, so it looks like it'll be a minimum of four months before I see them either.
So, after that deadly ramble, finally on to the question.
Is it just me?
I've added a poll so I can see if I'm the only one that can't see the point of renewing the contract at the end of the term. Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Got LW on my car as well.
There were no problems during the 12+ months I had it, but both tags expired recently and had to be replaced and recoded to the system (FOC, under warranty of course).
Other than that, no problems for me. D3 XS Manual

It's LR version of the popular 'Tracker' system ...if the motor gets pinched the unit is activated and hopefully they can pinpoint it asap. You won't have one unless you opted for it Powered by TorqTune

I have the proper Tracker system, the one most police patrol cars are fitted with to find them.....Hopefully its a great item that I never have to use...........Its expensive I agree, but when my D3 has NO HP / Finance / Contract Purchase, its alot of cash to loose if a TWOAC'er wants to ship it abroad..... Thanks for your input so far guys. Looks like so far there's just the two of us, making that a 50% failure rate
McL, At the time I bought it, I believe LRW was the most expensive option; I only chose it 'cos it was allegedly better integrated into the car and was designed for ultra-low power consumption and had European coverage from the start.
I've seen where it's 'integrated' and I could have done a similar hack job myself quite easily (and have done to install a hidden immobilser relay in another car). I also have 2 solar panels in the back windows to try and keep the battery charge up.
It's really not working out as aI planned Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

You should have been handed appropriate documents with the car. Chances are that if you don't know if you have it, then you haven't. Lucky you Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I have now received the all new tags and linked them to the car and my problems appear to have gone away. In fact as I've now not even had one single false alarm, I'm now starting to get paranoid that the Eurowatch Monitoring Centre has just switched the whole thing off remotely. Must test it one day.
Strangely the new tags don't cause anywhere near as much interference on the TV as the first two did...
Next task - try and work out how to make the Tag as waterproof as the key (Now there's an oversight ). Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

You are not alone! My system was faulty from new and repaired under warranty by Duckworths who came down from Lincoln to Norwich to collect , repair and return the car after my continued dissapointment with my local Norwich dealer. The tags stopped working about a month ago and were replaced, again by Duckworths, as the batteries in them were dead within 10 months not the 3 years stated. Im told that there is a waiting list for them as they are all going flat early . As the system is now 1 year old that means all at the same time hence the wait! I got mine in a short time but i put that down to Duckworths as they are on the ball. Shame that they are not nearer.
