Man sitting in the living room, watching TV when his wife hits him across the head with the newspaper.
He said "whats that for", and the wife replied "I've found a piece of paper with the name Mary Ellen written on it"
Quick as a flash he said "that was the name of a horse in the races last week", to which the wife humbly acceppted.
Now a week later she again hits him over the head, this time with a frying pan.
"what the  was that for?" he said, and the wife said
"Your horse phoned"
