| Private DISCO3/Freel2/RRSPORT - Kielder Forest - Jan 2009 |
|
Following the popular poll, Sunday January 18th 2009 has been chosen for the first DISCO3/Freel2/RRSPORT event in Kielder Forest. This will be a totally private event for our forum members and we have exclusive use of the forest tracks from 10.00 - 16.00.
The day would be a follow the leader type event through the forest using current trails along with some stops at general play areas (old quarries – that sort of thing). We intend to figure out a route that is as non-damaging* as possible and ideal for all levels of driving experience.
There are two ways to get a ticket – the face value is £0.00 but we’d love a voluntary £50.00 donation to Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue (reg.511313). Donors will receive their complimentary tickets immediately. We would also like to recommend that people who signup make a donation to this forum as well as a way of thanking it to make this event possible.
Forum members who do not wish to make a donation may request a ticket by PM. to “Iona Disko” – there is no guarantee of availability and all requests will be processed by January 12th.
The reason for this is to enable us to arrange for donating participants to complete a Gift Aid form on the day that enables us to claim some tax benefit. This is only possible on donations and not sales; hence free ticket – but donation appreciated.
For those further a field there is camping available as well as hotels and log cabins available to rent.
In order to make this a viable day we need a minimum of 10 cars and at this point in time can cater for up to 30 vehicles.
If you are interested in attending and making the £50 donation please use the signup button at the top of this thread. Also a cooked breakfast will be served for the driver upon arrival.
(Full details inc donation options and instructions etc will be sent on signup.)
*Please note that forest routes can change quickly and what maybe a clear non-damaging route when we plan the route could have changed by the day in question. We accept no liability in the event of damage but you can be assured that neither I or Julian wish to damage our cars on the day either.

Hhmm .... need to re-look at this.
Have no problems whatsoever in making donations.
Not sure what I got on that day?
If I could think of anything intelligent, poignant or witty, I'd put it here !!!

That was quick Walmsleys - have you been sat there waiting all day
Full logistics are still being worked and will be sent out very soon but the meeting place will be at Kielder Castle Visitors centre. The finish will likely be somewhere close to the castle.

Any links or pics of the area that is intended to be used. I'm interested in this, but would like more info if possible. Is this a green lane event or is there a 4x4 play area?
Thanks.

It's not driven by me but my daughter who enjoyed herself such a lot at Tong last time that she's always pestering to find out when the next event is. She can't wait to drive at Tong again on Sunday.
Here she is driving the lake. 2007 TDV6 SE Zermatt Silver, auto, black leather, an Uncle Ray plate and AT2s

A lot of the driving will be along forest tracks but there will be places like old quarries where you can drive around on your own.
Iona Disko and myself will be doing a recce next week so I will take some photo's and post them.

Neither!
We don't use any green lanes - it is one huge forest and we are setting a challenging but not extreme course through it.
We shall stop for lunch and to talk tactics at a disused sand quarry that makes a great play area.
We typically cover 25 to 30 miles in a day. But this one might be different as it is all newish vehicles so nothing too daft.
