Chirpy sound from brakes...

Hi all,

Quick one. 'check brake pads' light came on last week followed by a chirpy sound when applying the brakes that gets quicker the faster the car is going.

No major drama. Took the car in the garage this morning and they changed the pads. All good.

On the way home, noticed the chirping is still there.

I'm sure this car is laughing at me.

Any ideas?

Maybe it's unrelated, however did they change the wear sensor?

Hi Motor, no, they did not change the sensor.

What are you thinking?

I'm not familiar with how the system works, however you did get the sound after the check brake warning light. Therefore I'd be checking that the wear indicator sensor is correctly mounted.
Also I thought it was standard practice to change the sensor?

Hey folks,

For reference, we found the issue and it was a large mass of brake dust found within the brake shoes that would compress and squeal when lightly covering the pedal.

Quick blast of compressed air blew the whole lot out and now my brakes are as silent as a highly-skilled ninja assassin.

Smile
