Clutch Pedal broken?

HELP!

Just managed to limp home with no clutch. Pulled up to a T junction, pressed clutch pedal in and the was a crack and the pedal went another 3 inches to the floor and stayed there.

Can't change gear without trying to match revs (difficult when you are stationary). Managed to bump it on the starter motor and keep it going to get home.

Now parked on the road with no way of turning it around. Am I looking at another huge bill or is it liklely to be something easy? (Please be easy!)

I've seen a couple of people put pics of a crack in the manual clutch pedal. Might even be some on here. If it's just that, shouldn't be too difficult to change. You could put a second hand one on, but it might have the same problem of course.

Thanks Bodsy, I m not sure it's that as the pedal still moves up and down if I pull it. Almost like its not connected to anything.

I'll have a look for pictures though.

Just had a close look at the car. No fluid loss, reservoir full. No obvious crack etc on pedal (not removed the trim panel though)
If i push the pedal as far as it can go I do hear a rubbing sound with the engine running so it is engaging something just not very much!

Well my clutch pedal stayed down after a gear change on thursday, i had to put my foot under it to raise it again. Was ok on friday Shocked then started playing up again on sat'. Gear change is fine. It is possible for the seal in the master cylinder to fail and not cause a leak. Apparently, if this has happened, if you watch the fluid resevoir whilst the pedal is pumped up and down the level will rise and fall. Not sure if this info is accurate, mine does not. I think mine is worse when driving up hill Shocked

Andi.

Sounds like the master cylinder to me, happened on a previous car, just turning into my road from a 300+ mile journey so the timing could have been worse.

Clutch pedal can crack right at the top, above the pivot point. Sounds like that.
There is a post on here somewhere about it.

So, my indie has had the gearbox off to look at the clutch and it is in bits. Nothing is repairable as it appears to have exploded. The clunk and pedal drop appear to be where the clutch eat itself.

Now for a fight with the warranty company!
