B****y LR - fitting rear mudflaps |
|
Sorry guys, but i just want to let off steam. TFC very kindly got me a full set of mudflaps in the bulk deal. Came to fit them this morning, and hey ho, no probelm with the front ones, 10mins, straight on. Move to the rear, and these have almost the same 3 screw fixing, although this time you have to fit a little L shaped bracket behind the arch first. One screw to fit it, easy enough you'd think, unitil you find the exhaust is in the way, and you cant get a screwdriver in. And both sides are the same!
ARGGG, why do LR do this, make everything difficult
I ended up using a bit in a 1/4" socket, as this was all I'd got that would fit in.
rant over.....

Fun, isn't it? If you have a right-angle screwdriver... it isn't so bad. It still took me over half an hour -- my hands are too big.
At least service departments somewhat earn their labor costs on rear mud-flap installs.
Just annoying the brackets for the 2 extra screws weren't just pre-installed on all vehicles... would have made everyone's life easier.

You're right about it being tricky and needing a right angled screwdriver.
Mine's worth it's weight in gold.

I found that bending the exaust heat guard helped also.
