Beware falling branches

Driving through Billingshurst in Sussex earlier when a tree decided it didn't want one of it's branches any more. My D3 now has two golf ball sized dents in the bonnet, a thumbnail sized one on the roof complemeted by scratches on the strip of plastic down the side of the windscreen and the offside mirror casing next to it

Get onto the council - the tree should be maintained so they aren't a hazard to people or traffic. Bit like potholes.

Either that or call Dentmaster Sad

Oh and I think this is definitely ON topic, do you want it moving?

Yes, please move it.

I've tried the council route before (burst tyre and buckled wheel as the result of a pot hole), unless quite a few people have suffered as a result of the same problem it's next to impossible to get something out of them. At least with pot hole it's fairly easy to prove the problem, the branch has probably been driven over by dozens of cars and is sawdust by now

So I don't invalidate my warranty I'm going to take it down to my local dealer and get them to give me a repair quote or point me in the direction of an authorised LR repair centre (Dentmaster maybe Question ). Depending on the cost I may have to paut a claim in.

The paintwork isn't scratched or broken so hopefully it'll be an easy/cheap repair and I won't have to get the paint protection reapplied

Si

First time I've ventured across the border for months, I'll be wary of doing it again Wink

Nearest dealer to me is Hunters in Guildford, though there's a few others not much further away if they cant help

Just been advised by SWMBO that it's the responsibilty of the highways authority if it's their tree. Alternatively it's the resposibilty of the landowner. She advises that a photo of the offending tree, site and damage should be enough to make a claim from HA. Same should apply to potholes as she's dealt with this before.

Probably hugged the tree too much Very Happy

The really annoying thing I managed to park it in a multi-storey car park earlier in the day with roof clearance down to 1 inch at points and not get a single scratch off anyone Exclamation Then the tree makes up for it in style...

Been taking my frustrations out on the 109" today.... it took a club hammer, chiesel, hack saw and drill but the floor panels came out in the end! Don't think any of those screws have been out for over 20 years and most of them definately aren't going back in Whistle

Got the bonnet fixed, no sign it was ever there, £65+VAT

They couldn't do the roof as the roll bar is right behind it so they can't get in there to push it out. I'll just have to live with it, it's fairly minor and I can't see it when I'm drving

Dentmaster or equivalent.
I phoned my dealer, they pointed me in the direction of their approved bodyshop, took it in there, they said it would cheaper for me if they get the dent guy in, verified it wouldn't affect the paint protection and was LR approved and left it with them, phone call 3 hours later saying it was done.
