Miss fuel!!!!!!!!
.
never thought I would do this but today, not paying attention I started to fill up my beastie with unleaded!!!!!
Luckily only 7 litres, called local Land Rover dealer and he said to have the car recovered for drain down and flush, would mean removing fuel tank and likely to cost £200-£300!
Called the dealer I purchased my car from (not a LR approved dealer but a specialist anyway).
Their recommendation was to fill the car to the brim ad drive it away it should be fine.
I drove home and so far without any problems but what do people think, is this going to cause me major issues?

Did the same with my old D2, 6 ltrs & realised what I was doing. Called dealer & they told me should be no worries filling up with diesel & driving slowly (max 60), no problems thereafter.

I am in Germany and a few days ago I was filling up with petrol at a small petrol station and after about 10 litres the fuel pump stopped and the woman came out the shop and was shouting that I was filling up with petrol. I said that it was OK as I have a petrol engine so I thanked here for the concern but everything was OK. But no I had to remove the nozzle and was not allowed to fill up more till her husband was there to confirm my car was a petrol.
It took more then 10 minutes before he arrived in between I showed here my car papers and she still didn't believe me.
The husband came wanted to see the engine before I was allowed to fill up again.
They explained a while ago a car was filled up wrong and the owners off the car tried to get the damage back from them as all the pistols were more or less the same collor so they couldn't see the difference.Roel

7ltrs of petrol in a full tank of diesel SHOULD be ok, but not ideal. You are lucky, so do the lottery this weekend too.

Now seeing her would at least have been justification for putting the wong fuel in the tank.
I certainly would not have been concentrating!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robster - when the tank is no longer showing full, put some more Diesel in as well as it will further dilute the petrol in the tank.
When I first got my Alfa GT just after they came out (Diesel) I had the same as Roel where I had a garage attendant shouting over the tannoy it was the wrong pump, I had to go and explain that sometimes pretty cars have diesel engines too
Happens a lot though, and that dealer quote was cheap, you don't want to know what my boss had to pay BMW after doing the same with his wife's X5 and having the tank drained etc

Back in the 90's I ran a number of diesel Merc vans and the manual advised that up to 15% petrol could be added to the diesel to stop waxing. As the fuel pumps use the diesel to lubricate the pump I would not be to worried about a mis-fuel of less than 10%. Nowadays I run a small fleet of transits and they have accidentally had small amounts of petrol put in them and lived to tell the tale.
Hope this helps

That's what I used to do on lorries in winter, only went up to 10% though.
Rather strange to go fuelling up your truck with two fuelling pistols at the same time, adding 50-60 litres of petrol looks like a lot!

Have been away for the weekend and have done about 150 miles, filled up again after 100 miles.
