Checking vacuum pump for oil ingress

Anyone got any pics / advice on how to remove the breather pipe on the vacuum pump to check for oil? I presume there's a knack to getting the pipe off. Confused

Ta muchly
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

There is a join near the servo (under the lid of the environmental box thing), hold the white bits on each side of the joint and it will come apart. You then just need to flick it a few times to see if any oil comes out.

I did this and confirmed with TFC that it was the correct procedure.

There was nothing wrong with mine, I think as it is 3 years old it needs a fluid change soon.

Cheers Iain Thumbs Up , did say my brakes were a little jaded before on a thread, pads were okay, fluid was okay, EPB okay. When I mentioned it to TFC, he went straight to the servo pipe

This one Alan Thumbs Up

Just unclip right side of coupler, and shake. Then see if oil comes out

How much is bad?
I shook mine and nothing came out, but when I touched the end of the pipe I got a circle of oil on my finger

When TFC shook mine it was a few drops too, and an obvious oil ring on the tube. Its something that will progress TBH, and luckily I am in warrenty Mr. Green

Shouldn't be any oil at all, so getting some on your finger show's you have the fault. Can't believe this isn't a recall issue Rolling Eyes

Cheers for the pics Mac. Thumbs Up

Only quoting Iain's words, its a known fault, but not a common on. Seems already more common than I thought.

No problems AL Thumbs Up

Iain tipped me off on this aswell when he was over last but the one thing I didnt ask was where does the oil eminate from ? anyone ?

EDIT : Where is the fault within the D3 that allows oil contamination within the vacuum ?

Well, millions of years ago, lots of plants and animals died. Over the years they decomposed and layers of.....drone waffle warble ......... and then they found a load of it under the middle east and mid-west America. Thumbs Up
