I have just taken delivery of my new Disco 3 TDV6 Base5 Auto
I arrived home from the dealership which is 2 1/2 hours ago - to find that the car wouldn't lock.
I would prefer to avoid going back all the way to have it looked over, if there were to be a simple solution.
Car locks fine from inside button, and starts etc as normal. But no remote locking
Any suggestions??

You should be able to manually lock it until you can get back to the dealer to find out what the issue is. Pull the cover off of the front passenger door handle and use the key
Welcome to the site, hopefully that's your first and last issue

Thanks Guys
I have tried locking passenger door - but it only locks itself, not the rest of the car.
Unfortunately both keys seem dead.
it anyway!!

Sounds like a good PDI by the dealer
Probably silly but you don't get a horn noise when you try and lock do you?
Maybe that something isn't quite shut. Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!

No noise at all - not a bad suggestion - mind you if it was I would have to bury my head in shame for a while!

I have an '06 HSE TDV6 and had no problems until now. Today I received the car back from the main dealer after having the winch kit installed and guess what; the central locking won't work. Exactly the same as described by time3200: both keys, etc. I also noticed that the seat memory and rearview mirror dipping do not work either. I made a quick call with the dealer (after 5:30 pm, so most mechanics had left) and they had no easy fixes in mind. I will take it back tomorrow and see if they can sort it out quickly. I'll let you know.

Let's see their reaction tomorrow.
Would you believe that mine is the first Disco3 that they have fitted with a winch? They have been quite well meaning but sometimes lacking in knowledge/experience. I value their intention more, so I'll go easy this time.

Dealer took the car in, said something to the effect that they don't have any idea what it might be. Looks like a weekend without the Disco.

I'm sure the keys are supposed to recharge from the ignition feed, so I would suggest trying to drive with the 'other' key for a couple of miles and see whether this works.
Also - you could test whether the key had any power by trying to enable the 'LandRover' button and seeing whether this works. That would at least tell you whether the key had power. [you can set the LandRover button to a variety of functions, including 'panic alarm' (ironic if that one works for you), 'guide me home lights', 'lower the suspension' and 'tailgate release' (see handbook for how to do these)]
Just a thought.
In the meantime, you could borrow a large nasty dog (or small child; same effect as deterrent and also on the upholstery) and leave in the car to stop thieves. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
Had it since new - sold Jun 17 after 12 years and 214,000 miles
