Had just rechecked mine yesterday - they had been tight a few weeks ago but yesterday found the R/H one about 1/2 turn out. A good dab of Loctite should fix it. Ex Defender 110 200Tdi owner.

Just tightened struts & door straps, all ones just finger tight including backing plate on all doors,
So I checked anything I could get a spanner on and quite a lot only just tight.
A word of caution, be carefull not to over tighten , you wil have to use some discression here.
AT the weekend I wil put disco up on ramp where I have plenty of room to stand underneath and go over underneath, will update on results.

Just voted for the right. No, not conservative.
It seemed OK, but the washer was free and I could turn the nut by hand about two turns.
A couple of weeks ago I picked it up from the dealer for the first anual check-up (a little less than 20.000 Km), and they told me they had checked all the new issues they were aware of. Well, not this one, huh?

Having had a strut fail, and been without the car for several days whilst it was fixed, I checked again this evening and the stud was again loose. The metal is also starting to distort around the mounting now.
This is starting to look like a very weak area, and I will have to go back to the dealer to see what can be done.
I have tightened it up for now, but there is a lot of movement of the metal around the post when the tail gate is moved. Silver TDV6 HSE

Checked mine - right one loose. Into dealer for brake pads so asked them to fix the strut. Guess what! Bodywork damage, so we now have to have the car with only one strut fitted (though, to be fair, they did offer to let us keep the loaner) until they can fit us into the bodyshop to rip the shoulder off my baby and replace it. I did ask why there had been no recall for this given the vast number of owners registering this problem - they didn't really know how to answer.
The dealer, god bless 'em, have tried to be helpful and they have given us a Disco loaner so hats off to Chipperfield Watford. I'll be watching the bodyshop repairs carefully.
If Land Rover had recalled when they shoudl have done, I'm sure they could have saved an awful lot of owners an awful lot of time (and themselves a lot of money) by fixing the original problem and not the damage caused by said problem. It's a shame that the product is so good, but their delivery of it is so poor. It's only a matter of time before the strut fails when someone is under it and gives somebody an injury. They'll be screwed from a liability point of view given that this is a known problem. Java TDV6 HSE with Alpaca and a few other fancy bits

Not strictly a recall but the VEP includes checking the tailgate struts

Just re-checked the struts on mine. RH loose again, about 2 turns.
This was loctite'd  when the issue first came up, but seems to have worked loose again.
Maybe worth others checking as it would seem that first application of loctite didn't do the trick. Discovery TDV6 S Silver

My local dealer reattached my disconnected RH strut last week. I was worried that they'd have to cut a hole in the outside of the car's pillar to access the bolt, but they managed to do it via a small hole behind the light cluster. So far so good, and no permanent (visible) damage done...!

My right hand strut has just sheared off completely. LR3 is 2005 TDV6 on 10k miles .... inside part nut fell into body casing. Spoke to dealer who said that this is common problem LR aware. Dealer wants to sub work out to body shop for some spot welding! Did Google search on tailgate problems and found this site .... wish I had found it earlier!!! Welcome any more comments from people who have this work done.

If like me you are new to this site, it is worth reading back through the postings, because you could miss some really useful items. Such as:
- Check nut with weight of door off the strut
- Ideally, remove the securing clip and check the nut without strut attached
- Narrow 13mm bike spanner is ideal
- When re-attaching socket to ball, grease the ball
- If you have to tighten it, apply loctite before tightening (you need to get it on thread - dont undo too far!)
- If you think it is tight now, do check again, because they can come loose again (see below)
Finally, if like me, you thought you were OK, keep checking. I have just looked at mine again and now realise why they are still tight - I can see the scratch marks where the dealer has checked/tightened them. Who knows if they grease and loctited them, so I will keep checking. Great the dealer checked, but shame they did not have bicycle spanners or removed the strut to check! Barn1e, 2005, TDV6 S, Auto

Car handling poor - Took car to tyre fitters.All 4 tyres worn on inside.Back tyres down to the metal banding on the very inside although had more than legal depth 7/8ths of the width on all four.Only noticed when I came to fit the towbar.Check the tyres frequently but they seemed fine with a cursory check.
Strangely enough very attached to the vehicle but not the parent companies quality levels.
Also got the cruise control problem again!!
