Anyone know if this applies in the UK as well, as it is not mentioned on the recall notice?I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

If you look at the "To" section in the recall notice ....all countries affected are detailed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hmmm...not many European countries listed. I'm down at the dealer this week - think I will take this along and see what they say for the Benelux region.The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

what about us market LR3s/Disco 3's for this?
Question... does this just apply to the TD motors, or V8 as well? Just wondering if the US market will be affected... Thanks.

I'd guess the V8 uses inlet manifold vacuum for the brake servo so it doesn't need a vacuum pump, whereas diesel engines do.

Yes, it's the thing that sprays oil up a pipe into the brake servo causing the brakes to fail. When it's working it creates a vacuum for the brake servo. Without it you'd need to push the pedal very hard indeed to stop!

I thought it was only on the Defenders which leak all the time, didn't even know we had one, or in fact where it is. I knew about the oil thing and checked in the pipe but I didn't think to consider where the oil came from

The pipe which indicates whether you have a problem or not is in the 2nd battery compartment

The one on puma-engined defenders sprays oil all over the engine bay when it fails.
On balance that's probably better than leaking secretly into the brake servo...
