Exreme effect of mis-fuel

So here we have an extreme effect of mis-fuel, engine was run on petrol till it stopped.
the piston was mullered by the valves, the second bank was all washed spotless, and by all accounts the centre piston seized at the bottom of the stroke.

So, there must have been some mechanical failure to make the valves hit the piston. Did the hp fuel pump seize and snap the timing belt or something Confused

Whatever, it looks expensive Shocked

HP fuel pump is driven of the READ not the timing belt, i'd suggest that the damage was caused by the engine going runaway due to the mixed fuel and the driver revving the nuts off it trying to keep it going....

TLO

Any more details available please?

For how long was it driven, under what circumstances?

How did the driver become aware of the problem? Any message on the dash or did it simply run rough & seize up?

Very scary
