Torque converter or gearbox
Hello,
I am having issues with my Disco 3 juddering. It's done 150k and has had a double flush with Dr Tranny which stopped the juddering for about 5k but now it's come back.
I spoke to the local Land Rover specialist and he said that it would need to have a new/recon gearbox. My question is, if the juddering is due to wear in the torque converter does it actually need a gearbox or can the torque converter just be changed.
If it is just juddering, then a TC should be all that is required.
In the Midlands there is a company http://www.vmtp-midlands.co.uk/ that will remove the box, strip it and rebuild with only the bits that are required - I understand that the labour charge is fixed, though they will just change the TC for about a grand or so. I would go for the other other option which would be about £1500 minimum - but at least you would know the box would be ok.Mark.
