Adaptive headlamps

Contemplating adding adaptive headlamps to the order for my D4 HSE and wondering whether I'll miss them having had them on D3 and annoyed they no longer standard. Any comments from new D4 owners in same situation? Has anyone specified them?

Yes. Go for them (and a heated steering wheel and full size spare wheel).

I agree with Winger about the heated wheel and the full size spare.

What is the cost of the xenons from the dealers as a factory order ?

The halogens in the standard bi-xenons point into the trees so maybe the adaptives are better in that regard.

Having had adaptives on a D3, I'd say definitely go for them if you do any night driving on country roads! Cost is £300ish to upgrade from the basic Xenons - watch, as for a while dealers were trying to charge £700ish for the upgrade!

There have been other posts about costs of options on this site - would be useful if you have a printed copy of the options price list for 2010 from your dealer if you could post it on site as it is not yet back on the LR site, then members will be able to identify any similar discrepancies in the pricing on the list Shocked

Definitley recommend the adaptives (should be about £300 on the HSE), ditto heated steering wheel & full size spare. Don't foget locking diff & Ipod cable Smile . Surround cameras are fun but not as good/useful as they should be and prob not worth the price/wait.

ps Halogen infill main lights point into the sky even on the adaptives and there seems to be no fix - just watch out for low flying aircraft Wink

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about the halogen infills. Take out the lamps, and you will see that they don't make a great deal of difference to the medium-long distance lighting, and change the bulbs to a colour temperature closer to the xenons, and you notice the periferal effect even less. They actually cast a quite clever light pattern, in my view, and the lateral and vertical additional lighting (whilst what people are not used to) is a considerable benefit.

I have no complaints.

Sorry to go against the grain here.

I had adaptive lights on My last D3 HES. But didn't spec them on the D4 because I didn't really see there was much to be gained.

You know what, I was right. I don't notice the difference and I do a lot of driving down windy lanes.

Spend the money on something else. In fact don't buy the heated steering whel either. Just buy the Park heater. It's wonderful.
