What the oval thing on the roof?
I had a search for this but I difn't find any mention of it, on the middle of the roof very close to the rear of D3 what is the oval plastic cover/cap for
My parents D3 doesn't have sat nav so I was thinking it must be were a gps receiver would be fitted well that was my best guess
Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.1DTi SWB Commercial *Fir Green (Mica)*
It's my parents not me who have a D4 SDV6 Landmark

Your guess is right , it is where the SatNav aerial would be if you had a satnav, RRS S and SE are the same unless you do what the local dealer here does and fits a dummy aerial rather than have a cheap plastic plate there..................Now a disillusioned new Land Rover buyer and have jumped ship to something less expensive and more reliable that hugs trees.... now driving a Mini Countryman PHEV as well as my trusty and brilliant 1996 Epsom Green Defender90 Tdi300

It also houses a telephone aerial if you have PTI21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
That's more for the slim fin on BMWs and the like; I tend to be reminded of Simon le Bon's sailing prowess....

Presumably it also houses the radio aerial, as I can't see one anywhere else!2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

nope, the radio aerial uses one of the side windows and the rear heated screen if you have the posh version with diversity aerials
The oval fitting is also for the sirius sattelite receiver and a form of satellite based TMC in Japan. there used to be two sizes of 'bump' but LR now seem to have consolidated this down to one. the 'fin' in the middle is the GSM antenna.

There is an upgrade available too. Not sure about the aesthetics though

Might be a bit too much bling for a D3, would look good on a RRS though!

Could it be used to conceal a TV aerial too? I'm thinking of adding a TV tuner to my DVD setup2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

Never miss your Sky favourates while on the road! Auto satellite tracking if someone leans out of the sunroof & keeps it pointing in the right direction.
